GG&G Flip Up Front Sight with Taper Pin has been updated and modernized, thirteen years after its original introduction. GG&G has re-designed and streamlined the overall appearance, and updated the locking detent mechanism. The front sight is still manufactured from 4140 chrome moly billet steel and finished by a mil-spec manganese phosphate process. The GG&G Folding Front Sight has protective ears on either side of the sight post, with gripping serrations to more easily raise and lower the assembly. The redesigned mechanical lock is a spring-loaded, positive wedge lock detent system that keeps the front sight in the up position preventing accidental lowering of the unit while maintaining on target repeatability. The locking system is designed to be operated with one hand so that the fire control hand does not need to be removed from the weapons fire control system to deploy or lower the sight. The GG&G Taper Pin Flip Up Front Sight comes with a standard mil-spec 1 1/4-inch, ambidextrous sling swivel that bolts to the body of the sight.
