New for 2017, the VLTOR CMRD AK Handguard is the first in many variations that VLTOR has planned for AK handguards. At this time it is offered in the "extended length" version but there will be lengths soon to accommodate carbine and mid-length variations. Constructed from aircraft grade 6061 T6 aluminum and finished with a hard coat anodize black MIL-A-8625 Type III Class 2- the CMRD is resilient but light. One of the lightest on the market in extended length, the CMRD handguard with all mounting hardware comes in at exactly 14 oz. The CMRD handguard is compatible with AK's that have AKM style furniture and with a sling attachment on the lower handguard retainer. The handguard fits most stamped and milled Romanian, Polish, Russian, and Hungarian variants.
