The Tinker Longsword (Oakeshott Type XVIIIa) provides the WMA practitioner with a fast, well-balanced sword that will perform beautifully in skilled hands. The demi-fullered sharp blade exhibits a quick profile taper with a diamond section out to the tip, providing the necessary stiffness for the cutting stroke. The flattened scent-stopper pommel (Type T-1) forms a natural extension of the double-hand grip and the square-section guard provides solid security. The sharp and blunt versions handle almost identically in cuts, thrusts, and quick posta (guard) transitions. The Tinker longsword promises to be the mid-priced training weapon of choice for longsword studies.
