When the Vixen ED81S 81mm Telescopes and GPD2 Mount 99782 and 99782M were introduced, it set a new standard for APO refractor telescopes. The combination of better color correction from the new ED glass and brighter images from its fast f/7.7 focal ratio will satisfy the most demanding visual astronomer or astro-photographer. The new ED glass produces clear and high contrast viewing, virtually free of false color. Vixen 's innovative design uses newly developed, environmentally friendly glass technology. The telescope optical tube is very stable yet light weight. The top carry handle also includes a 1/4-20 stud for piggyback digital camera mounting. The new Vixen dual speed focus, now standard on the Vixen ED81 telescope, provides fine focus adjustments for 1/7th speed focusing. This is a package designed for serious astronomical observing. The combination of high quality Vixen ED81S optical tube and the sturdy GP2 telescope mount is an excellent choice for exploring the starry night sky. Set-up is quick.
