Grandpas ax is an excellent mix of size, weight, and chopping capability for a small hatchet. Weighing just under 1.5lbs, this is a tool that can be easily carried long distances, making it an excellent tool for backpackers and minimalist campers. The design came about as a part of a challenge given to TOPS employees in 2016 to see which employee could design the best tomahawk/hatchet/ax. The winning design came from Leo Espinozas (TOPS President) father Lorenzo Espinoza Sr. Leo is the main designer for TOPS and approves all outside designers that TOPS chooses to work with. You know what they say: like father, like son.
