Partnering with Katherine Homes, local artist and activist, we've turned the classic Colorado landscape into original art. Now available as hats, this project captures the diverse environment we've called home for for almost 40 years.

Katherine Homes is a local artist, musician, and activist out of Longmont, Colorado. Living just up the road from the Mountainsmith headquarters, Katherines love for the outdoors, her commitment to the environment, and her down-to-earth, contagious energy, inspired us to learn more about her work and eventually partner on our own project. Together, we wanted to create a piece of art that embodied what Mountainsmith and the state of Colorado are all about, while capturing the diverse environment that has been home to our adventures for almost 40 years. Capturing Colorado is based off of the view you see as you drive into the mountains, crest the Genesee overlook, and get your first view of the Rockies-- the same view that inspired the Colorado license plate.

Originally hand-sketched on paper, Katherine then outlines the piece onto wood before hand-painting the array of colors and detail that make this image so unique. The final product is then digitized, scaled and fitted for a patch where it can live on in our series of limited edition hats, reminding us to keep up the adventures and to keep protecting the landscape we call home.
