The SRS V5 has been designed to allow the customer increased adjustability with the addition of side-to-side and angular adjustment of the cheekriser. The V5 has also been designed to increase the ease of adjustment by eliminating the need for tools to lock down length of pull adjustments and cheekriser height adjustment thought the incorporation of brass-tipped thumb wheels. Finally, the SRS V5 has now added an M-Lok slot to the bottom of the buttstock to be used with a 1.5" MDT M-lok Picatinny rail or bag-rider. These changes have been made while decreasing weight, when compared to the SRS V4.

MDT has chosen to split the SRS V5 into various models. This has been done to allow each SRS V5 to be optimized with the various requirements of each MDT chassis. The Short SRS V5 is shorter to ensure a proper LOP when using the TAC21, and has a lower cheek riser, as the buttstock sits higher on a straight-line chassis. The Standard SRS V5 is longer, to ensure a proper LOP when using an LSS-XL fixed variant, and has a "hand scoop", to eliminate hand pinching issues between the pistol grip and underside buttstock surface. . The SRS V5 is CNC machined out of 6061 aluminum billet, with Cerakote finishing.
