The Cold Steel Wakazashi Boken is a traditional-styled Japanese boken or training sword made of modern materials that make it affordable and durable. Made of the heaviest grade polypropylene available, the Cold Steel Wakazashi Boken lets you practice in a way that is forgiving of mistakes. The Cold Steel Training Wakazashi is made with synthetic materials that are low in price and impervious to the elements, are virtually unbreakable, will not rot, crack, split or splinter, and is remarkably stiff and cut resistant.
This synthetic training sword emulates the simple wooden sword used by traditional Japanese swordsmen for much of their training. These traditional wood swords were made from the super tough wood of the Japanese White Oak, a wood they called Kashi. The swords produced from this wood had the advantage of replicating the size, weight and feel of a steel sword, while minimizing the possibility of causing grievous or permanent injury to those who used it. Authentic Kashi wood Bokkens are still used today, but are becoming quite costly. They also have the disadvantages, being made of wood, that they may split or splinter. The Cold Steel Wakazashi Bokken closely duplicates a real Wakazashi in length, size, weight and feel.
