Product Category Description:
BD BioCoat* Gelatin Cellware, BD Biosciences
Tissue culture cellware is made of polystyrene treated with a uniform application of gelatin. Gelatin cellware provides an attachment and growth promoting substrate for culture of a variety of cell types such as vascular endothelial cells, muscle, embryonic stem (ES) cells, and F9 teratocarcinoma cells. Gelatin is suitable for promoting adhesion of transfected cell types. It is a heterogeneous mixture of water soluble proteins derived through the hydrolysis of collagen. Cellware eliminates time-consuming preparation, provides room temperature stability, and offers lot-to-lot consistency in reproducible experiments.
Both 6-well and 96-well plates have flat bottoms. The 6-well plates have a growth area of 9.6cm2 per well, and 96-well plates have a growth area of 0.32cm2 per well. Culture dishes have a working volume of 16.0-17.5mL and a growth area of 58.1cm2. Both dishes and plates come with lids. Flasks have either a blue polyethylene plug-seal or vented screw cap. They have a volume of 250mL and a growth area of 75cm2.
Gelatin source: Porcine. Tested for ability to promote proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC). Tested and found negative for bacteria and fungi. Stable for >=12 months at 4-30°C under dry conditions.
